The Body, our Instrument A playful and challenging practical workshop on visual theatre. An exploration of how our body can create and express visual theatre that can excite the actor and the viewer searching for richness in our expressivity, creativity, and imagination of our physical gestuality. The workshop will be delivered by the well known actor, director, movement director and theatre teacher Marcello Magni. Marcello is co-founder of Complicité in London. He has collaborated with Mark Rylance, Hideki Noda (Japan), George Kimoulis (Greece, Antigone by Sophocles at Epidaurus theatre), Helena Kaut Howsen, Kathryn Hunter (Birds by Aristophanes, National Theatre), Mike Alfred, David Glass, Nancy Meckler. This workshop will also be delivered at the International Theatre Workshop in Berlin. Organised by the Hellenic Centre. Maximum number of participants 20. Fee £25, concessions £20. Brasília from the Beginning, Fifty Years Ago On the occasion of the 50th anniversary from the inauguration of Brazil’s modern capital, Styliane Philippou will give an illustrated lecture in English on the making of Brasília, the utopias embodied in Lúcio Costa’s Modernist masterplan, and Oscar Niemeyer’s ensemble of monumental civic buildings that shaped the skyline of the postcolonial Brazilian city par excellence, and offered him the opportunity to enter into a dialogue with the landmarks of architectural history.
